Abby Tribiana: 1 Year Taller

My role has evolved significantly in the year since I was taken onto the team. When I started I was in more of a junior position, taking direction and adhering closely to the instruction of the team lead at the time.

Little Taller: How has your role evolved over the past year, and what new skills or responsibilities have you taken on?

Abby: My role has evolved significantly in the year since I was taken onto the team. When I started I was in more of a junior position, taking direction and adhering closely to the instruction of the team lead at the time. My role was pretty production-based, but as the team has changed and dynamics have shifted I've become more involved in direct client communication, helping to oversee production design and defining better team processes with Syd, our UX lead, to help us move forward efficiently and effectively.

Little Taller: What project or client engagement from the past year stands out as your favorite, and why did it resonate with you?

Abby: One my favorite (and also first) projects from my year at Little Taller was branding EmailMonkey for Gainsight. EmailMonkey was my first opportunity to fully flex my branding capabilities and create something fun and unique - I'm very proud of the way it's turned out. I got to push the silliness of the branding and illustrations pretty far since EmailMonkey isn't a real product (we've dialed it back a bit, though) and it remains one of my favorites to come back and work on.

Little Taller: Share a challenge you faced this year and how you overcame it. What did you learn from that experience?

Abby: Having worked in-office with highly collaborative teams in the past, I found working from home and being physically isolated from the team a bit challenging at first. Online communication (excluding emails and task management software) as the foremost mode to collaborate with my teammates was something I was thoroughly unused to, and sometimes things don't get communicated quite as they need to be online. Fortunately, everyone here is familiar with that struggle and the team is more than happy to over-communicate and provide help when needed.

Little Taller: Little Taller places a big emphasis on ownership and orchestration. How have you seen this reflected in your daily work and how has it impacted your work output this year?

Abby: One of the best things for me about working here has been having ownership over my projects, schedule, and process. Having previously worked in spaces where quick work was the best work and questions were to be kept to a minimum, I feel super liberated in being able to dedicate proper time and care to my projects. It's also been great collaborating with my team to improve our processes, workflows, and day-to-day functions.

Little Taller: Looking ahead, what aspects of your professional life are you most excited about developing further in the coming year?

Abby: I have the perpetual imposter syndrome that all artistic types tend to have, so I'm excited to keep honing my skills and become a better designer through the variety of projects that agency work brings in. I'm also excited to see where I can move in terms of my dynamic with the design team as we look to scale as a company.
